HALLANDALE BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Police are investigating a fatal overnight shooting that sent two men to the hospital.

The gunfire erupted on the 700 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue, in Hallandale Beach. The victims, 19-year-old Wajiyb Williams and a 17-year-old, ran and later collapsed not far down the street, off Foster Road.

“They call this ‘Drama Avenue,'” said one neighbor, Dee McCarthy. “Something’s always happening on ‘Drama Avenue.'”

Hallandale Police said the shooting happened Sunday night, at around 8 p.m.

“I don’t even look out the window to see what’s going on,” said McCarthy. “That’s every day. It’s nothing alarming here, sadly.”

Both victims were transported to Memorial Regional hospital. The 17-year-old is currently in stable condition, while Williams died at the hospital.

“I’m just hurt right now about my friend dying tonight,” said Virneasha Stephens. “This is the fourth one.”

The investigation was centered around a white SUV. However, police have not confirmed whether it is connected to the shooting even though it was riddled with bulletholes on the driver’s side.

7News spoke with a woman who said she rushed out as soon as she heard the shots. “I seen a whole bunch of blood on the ground,” said Stephens. “I’m holding his hand, trying to keep him up. You know, trying to make sure he stay alive and stay calm.”

Police continue their search for the shooter.
