MIAMI (WSVN) - A man was rushed to the hospital after being shot outside of a a strip mall in Miami, Friday afternoon.

According to Miami Police, just after 1 p.m., a group of people were hanging around outside of a strip mall located at 7383 S.W. 8th St., when an argument escalated and someone pulled a gun and started shooting. One man was shot several times.

The group then dispersed. The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The man is in stable condition.

“Detectives still don’t know what the motive was,” said Kenia Fallat of Miami Police. “We have most definitely ruled out robbery, so we don’t know if it was a discussion or what actually took place. But most definitely, it was a group of males that were in front of this business where shots rang out.”

A police perimeter has been set around the area. Police are now going door to door to the businesses in the area to check for video that might assist in the investigation. Police are also speaking with witnesses.

Police have detained at least one male and one female for questioning.

The identity of the man shot is unknown at this time.
