DANIA BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Local heroes of Pearl Harbor were honored 75 years after the attack.

Edward Hammond of Deerfield Beach is the last known South Florida survivor of Japan’s Attack on Pearl Harbor. Broward Navy Days honored Hammond, Sunday, during a special ceremony.

“I asked him this afternoon, ‘Where were you during the attack on Pearl Harbor?'” said one of the speakers. “He said, ‘Like any good sailor, I was in my rack!'”

The ceremony included speakers from the U.S. Coast Guard and the release of a memorial wreath into the waters of Port Everglades.
