FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - Fort Lauderdale officials will issue a boil water notice, Thursday, in small areas of the city.

According to a news release, the City of Fort Lauderdale is scheduling the notice due to scheduled maintenance on water lines located within the Rio Vista neighborhood. The temporary water service interruption or low pressure will begin on Friday, at 11 p.m., and may affect homes and businesses along Southeast Eighth Street on Federal Highway to Southeast 11th Avenue.

The second area possibly affected will be at Southeast Ninth Street on Federal Highway to Southeast Ninth Avenue.

Crews will be working overnight and are expected to complete their work around 5:30 a.m., Saturday.

Residents and businesses are advised to boil all water used for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes. A rolling boil of one minute is sufficient. As an alternative, bottled water may be used.

Officials said they will notify the affected properties when the notice is lifted.
