MIAMI SHORES, FLA. (WSVN) - A man robbed a woman at gunpoint, Wednesday, in the parking lot of a Miami Shores strip mall.
The victim, a mother of four, said she was going to get her nails done at Shores Shopping Plaza, off Northeast 95th Street, when the man approached her in broad daylight and put her in a chokehold on the ground.
“It was one of the scariest moments of my life,” she said. “This armed man came up to me and threw me down on the ground and put me in a really tight hold.”
Police believe the thief may have targeted the woman because she was driving a Porsche. He got away with her wedding ring, valued at more than $30,000.
“He told me, ‘Give me your ring, give me your ring.’ He finally got the ring off my finger,” she said. “He got one of my earrings, and he asked, ‘Where is your money? Where is your money?’ He reached in my bag and grabbed my wallet.”
Surveillance video captured the entire crime and shows the man waiting in the parking lot. When the victim got out of her Porsche, he walked over to her and took her to the ground.
“This is critical, I mean, if this lady was victimized, somebody else could be a victim out there, and, like I said, it’s very brazen,” said Miami Shores Police Lt. David Golt. “We really wanna get this guy in custody.”
The victim pleaded for anyone that recognizes the suspect to come forward.
“Please call. I don’t want this to happen to anybody else,” she said. “I don’t want something worse to happen to somebody. This man is dangerous and just evil.”
