MIAMI (WSVN) - A South Florida church is keeping the faith, days after thieves broke in and stole sound equipment.
Sunday services went on as scheduled at Mount Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Miami, located near Northwest 54th Street and 13th Avenue, after the burglary that deprived the house of worship of thousands of dollars worth of sound equipment.
The church’s pastor, the Rev. Cleophus Hall, is heartened by the outpouring of support from the community in the wake of Wednesday’s theft. “We have been receiving donations, according to our GoFundMe page,” he said. “Also, people are doing private donations, and we’re grateful to everyone who has helped us and everyone who is helping see us through what we are going through right now.”
Church officials said the perpetrators smashed a window to gain entrance. They have not been caught.
If you have any information on this burglary, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
