MIAMI (WSVN) - A homeowner has clear surveillance video of the two burglars who hit his Miami home, Friday, because he was watching it live from work.

The homeowner, who didn’t want to be identified, received an alert during the middle of the day as the burglars hit his home, located off North Miami Avenue. His security system allowed him to watch live from his phone, but all he could do was set off an alarm and call police.

“I was currently at work on my lunch break when I received a notification on my phone, via my home security system, alerting me there was movement in my home,” the homeowner said. “And when I saw the footage on my telephone, I noticed it was someone I did not recognize.”

The thieves broke through a window in the back of the home using a shovel.

“Once I realized someone was actually robbing my home, I hit the siren,” the homeowner said. “I called the police immediately.”

He watched live as they stole about $5,000 worth of goods, including iPads, laptops and jewels. The alarm didn’t seem to startle the burglars, but they did eventually leave.

City of Miami Police swarmed the area of 46th Street and North Miami Avenue looking for the thieves, but couldn’t find them.

“My blood was boiling, that’s what was going on in my head.” the homeowner said. “I felt very violated as I look at the footage of these guys in my house taking things, casually.”

If you recognize the men in the surveillance video, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
