(WSVN) - The Miami Heat made a special assist off the court on Veterans Day, helping renovate the homes of two local veterans.

The Heat teamed up with Rebuilding Together Miami-Dade to renovate two homes in Miami-Dade County. Dozens of volunteers joined together on a number of projects, Friday, including the installation of new flooring, light fixtures, painting and landscaping.

Heat President Pat Riley spoke about the organization’s motivation. “Anybody who has ever put on a military uniform that has served this country, we want to recognize and honor them,” he said.

Tymothi Coffee, a veteran, said Riley has been a strong supporter of veterans. “Pat Riley wants to give back to veterans,” he said. “His whole mission is to give back to veterans.”

The Heat funded the renovations for both homes.
