MIAMI SPRINGS, FLA. (WSVN) - Police were forced to fire as they tracked down two burglary suspects in a car chase.

According to Hialeah Police, officials were running a surveillance detail of burglary suspects, Wednesday afternoon, which led them to a home in Miami Springs, on the 6700 block of Heron Boulevard. That’s where officials witnessed two suspects in the process of burglarizing the home.

Upon approaching the location, the suspects fled the scene, almost hitting a police officer with their car. Police then gave chase.

Miami Springs and Hialeah Gardens Police also responded to assist Hialeah police.

7’s Skyforce HD hovered over the scene where the chase concluded in Virginia Gardens, along Ludlam Road and 36th Street, after police fired shots at the vehicle. The suspects lost control and drove off the roadway.

“They couldn’t break into a house in Hialeah, they came into Miami Springs,” said Hialeah Police spokesman Sgt. Carl Zogby. “Our duty is, we know they’re gonna commit a crime, we just can’t let them go. We just can’t ignore it. We just came in here. We caught them. We would have been in and out of here, no problem, but today, their luck ended, and luckily, no one other than them were hurt.”

Both suspects were struck by bullets and transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening.

According to sources, at least one of the charges that may be filed against the men is attempted murder of a police officer.
