SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - The son of a Miami-Dade Police major is learning a lesson in crime and punishment.

Tyler Palmer faced a judge in court Friday. The judge allowed him to enter a boot camp program later in September, but until then, he will remain under house arrest.

The 20-year-old was arrested back in May 4 on charges of drug trafficking and possession.

Palmer, the son of Miami-Dade Police Major Arnold Palmer, was taken into custody at his father’s Southwest Miami-Dade home.

Officers found drug paraphernalia and cocaine and more than $3,000 in cash in his bedroom.
