MIAMI (AP) — New mothers will now have a place to privately pump breast milk at Miami-Dade County’s courthouse.

A news release says Miami-Dade County, the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers and the Eleventh Judicial Circuit is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning for a new lactation room at Dade County Courthouse. Officials say they’re planning to open similar rooms at other court facilities.

Chief Judge Bertila Soto says she’s proud to offer a safe, comfortable space for nursing mothers. She says the room will be especially useful for attorneys and other court participants who often spend many hours at the courthouse.
