MIAMI (WSVN) - Miami-Dade commissioners passed an ordinance banning Styrofoam products at some popular places across the county.

The ordinance, approved on Tuesday, prohibits people from bringing plastic foam cups, coolers and food containers into county parks, beaches and marinas.

The ban, which will be enacted next year, is the latest in a wave of crackdowns meant to cut down on littering.

Violators could face $50 fines.
