MARATHON, FLA. (WSVN) - The search is underway for a man who went missing from Marathon.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is searching for 48-year-old Paul Thomas Murray.

Murray, who lives in Boot Key Harbor in Marathon, told family members he was going to help a friend move a sailboat from Robbie’s Marina to Boot Key Harbor on June 16. A short time afterwards, the sailboat was found grounded on some rocks near Robbie’s Marina with no one on board.

A friend of Murray’s spoke with his father and told him that Murray was supposed to move the boat with the boat’s owner, Donny Vanaria and a man who goes by Red.

Red reportedly told Murray’s father that he woke on June 17 around 4 a.m., and the boat was grounded. He said neither Murray nor Vanaria were on board, however, Vanaria returned by dingy and asked him to watch his dog because he had to leave town.

Since that time, there have been no reported sightings of Murray, and his family said there has been no activity on his credit cards or cellphone.

If you have any information on his whereabouts, contact Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at (305) 289-2410.
