PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. (WSVN) – Deputies are investigating a shooting that police said killed one person, Monday afternoon.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene of the shooting along the 5400 block of West Hallandale Beach Boulevard in Pembroke Park. According to a BSO spokesperson, officials received a call about an apparent robbery at around 1 p.m.

According to witnesses, the shooting occurred at a bus stop where the victim was standing. Police said that was where the man was shot.

“This is a very busy street, so we know that there are vehicles in the area that were passing by, and we’re asking anyone who was in the area, just around 1 p.m., who maybe saw something or saw someone running away from this block, to please contact our detectives,” said Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Keyla Concepcion.

A bicycle could be seen at the bus stop. Witnesses said the bicycle belonged to the victim.

He was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital where he later died.

“I feel sorry for the person,” said one witness. “My condolences go out to the family, his family, that’s all.”

Officials said he got into a fight with another man and at least one shot was fired.

The shooter remains at large. Officials are looking into surveillance video footage that may have caught the shooting.

Hallandale Beach Boulevard is closed in both directions for about a block, as officials continue to investigate this case. The road has been closed for several hours.
