MIAMI (AP) — Authorities say a man was killed and a woman was seriously injured when they crashed into a South Florida road construction site.

Local media outlets report that the crash occurred early Monday morning.

Florida Highway Patrol reports that 24-year-old Jordan Ray Denis was driving on Interstate 75 when he went into the median and hit a concrete drainage structure. Denis was ejected when the car flipped, and he died at the scene.

FHP says the car’s passenger, 22-year-old Cynthia Seda, survived the crash and was taken to a Miami burn center.

Records show Denis was facing two pending charges of driving without a license.
