WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A South Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting his pregnant wife.

Local media outlets report that 40-year-old Paul Daniels was sentenced Wednesday after jurors convicted him of first-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Daniels shot 27-year-old Donna Daniels during a fight at their Lake Worth home in March 2012 and then shot himself in the head in front of the couple’s children.

Defense attorney’s argued that Paul Daniels had a lapse in judgment when he shot his wife five times and was only guilty of manslaughter.
