MIAMI (WSVN) - A man was shot at on a South Florida Highway, early Thursday morning, and drove himself to the hospital.

According to Miami-Dade Police, a man drove his orange Lamborghini to Jackson Memorial Hospital, which was riddled with bullet holes.

FHP said the shooting happened on the eastbound entrance ramp to SR-836 from West Flagler Street.

The driver told investigators that he was driving along the entrance ramp with his girlfriend when a white SUV drove on to the left shoulder beside him and fired three to five shots through his driver’s side window.

He said the shooter stopped ahead of him and opened the door. He was then able to manueaver around him and speed off. He told detectives he was not able to get a clear look at the shooter.

He said to police that it happened after he and his girlfriend left a South Florida nightclub on the 6800 block on Flagler Street.

Some bullets blew out the driver’s window and left holes on the passenger’s side.

A man witnessed the driver walking into the hospital. “The car came speeding in,” said Miguel Ulloa, who spoke in Spanish. “The man got out of the car with some injuries to his face. The driver was saying they shot at him on the expressway.”

The injuries to the driver’s face was a result of the shattered glass from the gunfire. “He had some cuts on his face he was bleeding,” said Ulloa. “It was a very strong image.”

The victim’s girlfriend did not suffer any injuries.

The driver has since been released from the hospital and drove away on his own, refusing to speak to reporters outside.

Police continue to search for the shooter.
