DEERFIELD BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - A South Florida man was arrested after, authorities said, he stole a bicycle from a Deerfield Beach store and then tried to sell it on Craigslist.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Delray Beach resident William Jankiewicz was charged with dealing in stolen property after he posted an ad trying to offload the $5,000 item.
Investigators said Jankiewicz, 43, pretended to be interested in buying the bike from The Bicycle Generation, located near East Hillsboro Boulevard and Southeast 12th Avenue in Deerfield Beach. Moments later, they said, the suspect pedaled away during a test ride.
Deputies took Jankiewicz into custody on Wednesday. He is being held on $3,000 bond.
