MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Family and friends held a somber tribute for Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, Sunday.
The player’s mother, Maritza Fernandez, was seen scaling the rocks with balloons at the site where the 24-year-old and his friends Emilio Macias and Eduardo Rivero lost their lives, Sept. 25.
Mourners also gathered on the water, riding personal watercraft.
Investigators said the boat the victims were riding on struck the jetty and flipped over.
Fernandez was laid to rest on Thursday. Officials are awaiting toxicology reports on the two-time All-Star.
