HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) - Members of local media organizations, along with a player for the Miami Dolphins participated in a turkey giveaway Tuesday.
The Cox Media Group, along with members of the WSVN family passed out a thousand turkeys just in time for Thanksgiving. “When you’re talking about a thousand, you’re talking about feeding 20,000 people in the family, when you break it down,” said Maestro Powell of the Cox Media Group.
Miami Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso was also a part of the giveaway. “I’m very happy to giveaway food to these people because, obviously, Thanksgiving is a time to be with your family and eat delicious food,” Alonso said.
WSVN’s own Donovan Campbell was also along for the event.
Turkey recipients waited in a long line, some for hours, for their birds. “Yeah, I’m number two in line,” said Vernique Journey. “I come to get my turkey for Thanksgiving for the family.”
“What they’re doing here, it’s all good and to help out the community and the people, that’s very nice of them,” said Moses Sosa.
