PLANTATION, FLA. (WSVN) - Several South Florida churches came together to feed a global need, Saturday.

The churches teamed up with the international agency Stop Hunger Now for a meal packing program held at the Plantation United Methodist Church, near North 70th Avenue and Johnson Street.

Volunteers put together more than 50,000 meals to feed hungry families around the world. “It’s going really well,” said volunteer Nancy Gibson. “We’ve got close to 200 people, and they are packaging, sealing and running around having a great time.”

The meals contain rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and a flavoring mix. Once packed, they will be shipped to different food-deprived areas around the world.
