NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - An 80-year-old technical college in Liberty City will be getting a multi-million dollar facelift.

D.A. Dorsey Technical College announced the $6 million renovation for building upgrades, Monday. Miami-Dade Public Schools Superintendent Alberto Carvalho joined students and teachers at the school, which has been in Liberty City since 1936, for the groundbreaking.

“This $6 million investment is going to result in significant classroom updates, tech investments, new windows, new ceilings, new flooring, new security,” Carvalho said. “In essence, within the next couple of years, this will be an an almost brand new school. That’s the promise we made to the community.”

Schools across Miami-Dade County will be renovated after the recent approval of a $1.2 billion bond to modernize schools throughout the district.
