MIAMI (WSVN) - Kitten rescued from storm drain in Miami by good Samaritan and Miami Fire rescue crews.

A man passing by Northwest 22nd Street and 21st Avenue, just after 2:30 a.m., Thursday, turned his head when he heard a small cry.

Maurico Perez noticed a kitten stuck inside a drain pipe and attempted to rescue it for three hours.

Shortly afterwards, Miami Fire Rescue arrived and finally got the kitten out of the drain. “Yes! God bless fire department,” said Perez. “They saved one more life!”

When asked how it felt to save the kitten, Miami Fire Rescue Captain Oscar Porras said it’s all in a day’s work. “Oh, it’s satisfying,” he said. “That’s what we’re here for.”

Perez, who also had a dog resting around his neck, took the kitten home with him on a bicycle and said he is happy to have a new addition to the family.
