MIAMI SHORES, FLA. (WSVN) - A Miami Shores family was left shaken after a gunman robbed them, drove a victim to the bank to take out money and stole their car.

Surveillance video shows a stolen car and a subject after a home invasion in Miami Shores, Monday.

“This is pretty brazen,” said Kevin Lystad of Miami Shores Police. “You’re talking about 8 o’clock at night, people still outside enjoying the night.”

A Miami Shores homeowner was working out in his garage when the unknown armed man barged in after ditching his bicycle in a nearby alleyway.

The subject forces the victim to give up jewelry and cash. The victim’s wife and two small kids were in the home as the terrifying ordeal played out.

“For us there is no other case at this time that is more important,” said Lystad. “This is the most important case. Every resource, all the man power we have. The detectives are working around the clock.”

The subject forced the homeowner out of the house with a gun and made the man get into his car. Then they drove to a nearby bank where the victim was forced to withdraw cash.

Soon after, the subject was again spotted at a nearby gas station on Northwest 103rd Street and 12th Avenue. He later ditched the vehicle after surveillance captured his face.

“We are scouring the area from the way we think he came in to the city, to the way we know he left with the victim’s vehicle, to get any surveillance video out there to review it,” Lystad said.

“It is a little scary,” said resident Rebecca Keren. “You definitely feel like you need to lock your doors and your windows and somebody might come in at night.”

Lystad said this is an isolated incident.

“We have a really good track record of catching these guys, and we will catch him,” he said.

Police are currently searching the bike and car for evidence as they conduct their investigation.

If you have any information on this robbery, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
