DANIA BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - The girlfriend of a man convicted of a hit-and-run that killed an 8-year-old child has been sentenced.
Annaee Barbeito has been sentenced to five years probation. If she successfully completes the program, she will have no criminal record. Barbeito faced related charges of accessory after the fact, tampering with evidence and insurance fraud.
Investigators said she was in the car when Zachary Benjamins ran down 8-year-old Apollo Brown and his older brother in Dania Beach, in December of 2014. Brown would not survive and his brother, Kelv’ron Florence, sustained serious injuries.
Benjamins was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.
