MIAMI (WSVN) - The college career of FIU senior and Panthers tight end Jonnu Smith is over after his girlfriend doused him with boiling water.
According to The Miami Herald, Smith and his girlfriend, Mary Gaspar, got into an argument about their relationship, on Halloween, at Smith’s dorm room.
That’s when Gaspar, who told police was, “feeling extremely emotional and stressed,” started hitting him with her hands.
Then, she boiled a pot of water, walked over to Smith and poured it on him.
According to the arrest affidavit, Smith suffered severe burns to his head, neck, back, a shoulder and an arm.
The extent of the burns remain unknown. However, according to the Herald, Smith has been seen back on campus.
Gaspar is reportedly five months pregnant with Smith’s child.
