Family offering reward for info about gas station robbery

DEERFIELD BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - The family of a gas station owner who was shot by a robber is offering a reward for any information leading to the culprit.

Surveillance video captured the struggle last Tuesday as a robber shot Lordes Rizvi’s husband during a robbery. The bullets grazed his ear and scraped the back of his head.

“He called me, and he told me that he had been shot. ‘Lordes, I’m shot. I’m dying.’ I just started screaming, ran out the door to look for neighbor,” Lordes said.

The owner didn’t want to speak on camera, but his wife and son spoke for him. Now, they’re offering a $2,000 reward in addition to the $1,000 Crime Stoppers reward for any information.

“When you hear something like that, you think the worst possible,” Amir, the owner’s son said.

Lordes had just seen a 7News story that night about a robbery at another convenience store, in Hollywood. The robber in that case had beaten an employee with a pipe.

“I saw it on the news, and I recorded it for him to see when he got home, for him to be careful,” Lordes said.

But before she had the chance to show him, he too was robbed and nearly shot in the head.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office said the same man who fired the shot robbed a Dania Beach gas station hours earlier. Detectives are now searching for the criminal who, they said, has already shown deadly intentions.

“There was no need for that,” Amir said. “There’s other, legitimate ways to make money. You know, specially against somebody like my father, who’s in a little room, you’re 6-4, 6-5, you put fear into him. There was no need to have a weapon or to do what you did.”

If you have any information on this violent robbery, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $3,000 reward, in addition to the reward offered by the family.
