Pirate Duck Tours bus catches fire on MacArthur Causeway

MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - A Miami Pirate Duck Tours bus caught fire on the MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach, Friday afternoon, causing delays, but no one was injured.

According to Miami Beach Police, the Miami Pirate Duck Tours bus caught fire in the eastbound lanes of the causeway, near Star Island, on the way into Miami Beach, around 2:30 p.m.

A video sent in by a 7News viewer showed thick, black smoke billowing from the burning vehicle as fire rescue crews began to arrive.

The fire has since been put out.

7News cameras captured the charred remains of the tour bus. The majority of the damage was in the rear of the vehicle, where it looked like an engine had been sitting.

Everyone on board was off of the bus boat at the time of the fire, according to Miami Beach Fire Rescue. No one was hurt.

The company provided transportation to the passengers while they were on the causeway. The owner of the vehicle was at the scene but declined to comment about the incident.

The incident caused mile-long delays on the eastbound lanes of the MacArthur Causeway, all the way to Downtown Miami, Friday afternoon. At around 3:30 p.m., the eastbound lanes began to clear up, allowing traffic to pass easily.

By 5 p.m., rush hour traffic had returned to normal. Officials advised motorists heading to South Beach to seek alternate routes.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
