CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. (WSVN) - A man was transported to the hospital and later died after succumbing to injuries he sustained in a road rage altercation.

According to police, two drivers had a dispute that began miles away in Margate and ended at an intersection along West Atlantic Boulevard and Riverside Drive, Thursday morning, in Coral Springs.

Officials said the two drivers exited their vehicles and began to fight. “Our communications received a call about a subject that was lying down, possibly unresponsive,” said Coral Springs Police Sgt. Carla Kmiotek.

One of the men, 37-year-old Paul Peterman, ended up with serious injuries and was rushed to Broward Health North. He later died from his injuries.

Officials said Peterman did not have gunshot or stab wounds. His cause of death remains under investigation.

The other man involved, who was driving a dark-colored pickup truck, fled the scene. “We never want anyone to confront or engage with somebody who has confronted them in a road rage situation,” said Kmiotek.

The other driver has called police and spoke with officials since the road rage incident.
