Customer recounts ordeal as trio robbed 2 Broward pawn shops

MARGATE, FLA. (WSVN) - Employees and customers have been left terrified as an armed trio who hit two pawn shops in Broward County remain on the loose.

7News spoke with a couple who were inside a Margate pawn shop, one of two businesses targeted by three men, who smashed glass casings full of pricey items.

“They knew what they were doing. They got it done,” said customer Omar Fairman. “I’m just glad we didn’t get hurt.”

Fairman said he and his girlfriend were trying to pawn a radio at the Value Pawn and Jewelry store, on Nov. 1, when the robbery took place. “I was looking at some phones in the glass case, and through the glass case, I seen a shadow come by the door and duck down,” Fairman said.

He wasn’t aware at the time, but those shadows were three masked men. One of them was carrying a gun.

“I’m just sitting there now in a sense of, ‘Oh, snap, here we go.’ They run through the door. One runs through the door, holds out a gun, ‘Nobody don’t have to move, or I’ll blow your effing heads off.’ And two or three run through the door, and they just go to work.”

The three men smashed several casings and grabbed whatever they could and ran out.

Surveillance outside and inside the pawn shop were recording as the men did their dirty work.

Fairman believes the men really formulated a plan before entering the shop. “Reckless actions but mindful thought behind the reckless actions,” he said. “They planned it. They did it, but it was reckless in the sense of you can still get in trouble.”

No one was injured in this robbery. According to officials, the trio has struck twice at this pawn shop and another pawn shop in Pompano, both in November.

If you have any information on either robbery, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $3,000 reward.
