MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Critical Mass, a cycling event that brings locals together to ride bikes through the streets of Miami, is returning to Miami Beach this Friday.

Cyclists will be entering Miami Beach beginning around 7:15 p.m. via the 79th Street Causeway for a Miami Critical Mass event.

They will then continue riding eastbound along 71st Street, then south at Indian Creek Drive towards 63 Street. Then, they will continue south along Collins Avenue to 23rd Street, then west to Dade Boulevard. At Dade Boulevard, cyclists will head west towards the Venetian Causeway where they will exit Miami Beach and continue into the City of Miami.

“This is not a city sanctioned or permitted event,” said Miami Beach Police Spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez. “However, in the interest of public safety, MBPD will have officers at key intersections along the route.”

Police advise residents and those who plan on traveling to the area to plan accordingly, since the event will affect traffic for a minimum of three hours.

Miami Beach Police will be tweeting traffic updates on Twitter. Follow them on Twitter, here.

Critical Mass occurs on the last Friday of every month.
