SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A father was arrested after being recorded by cellphone video camera appearing to punch three female high school students while allegedly trying to break up an after-school fight, Monday, in Southwest Miami-Dade.

The video, which was later posted on YouTube, shows a brawl taking place at a bus stop located at 14600 Naranja Lakes Blvd., miles away from Robert Morgan Educational Center, a Southwest Miami-Dade high school. It happened in front of a school bus.

In the video, a man, who was later identified as 41-year-old Kevin Williams, appears to get directly in front of a girl’s face before another girl runs up, sparking the fight. Williams then appears to throw three punches before pulling his daughter away.

Two 15-year-old girls suffered bruises and abrasions after being slapped and punched.

Miami-Dade Schools Police later arrested Williams on battery charges. He has since bonded out of jail.

Miami-Dade Schools Police said Williams learned about a fight on the bus between some of the girls who attend Robert Morgan Educational Center. The school district confirmed one girl sprayed another with mace. All of that before, police said, Williams told his daughter to keep fighting when he arrived at the bus stop.

One witness told 7News she saw Williams punching the girls.

“He was punching those innocent children. I was just shocked because I have a 16-year-old child. He needs to be locked up,” she said over the phone.

Other parents said they were shocked a parent would act so violently.

“That’s not the way to go about it,” one woman said. “I mean, that’s violence. What are you teaching?”

“He’s also hitting?” said another parent while she watched the video. “He tried to separate them, but then he also beat her up.”

“It worries me, because my daughter takes the bus to school too,” Martha Cook, a parent said.

Back at school, students were left frazzled.

“He could’ve reacted differently. He could’ve broke them up. He didn’t,” Juliet Nunez said.

“He’s a grown man — he has big hands!” said a student. “You know, that has to hurt. I mean that’s crazy ’cause he’s older, so I guess he has more control over like, the situation. Like if he hits them, it’s gonna hit harder ’cause he’s a grown man. He has big hands.”

Miami-Dade Schools Police said the students at the bus stop do attend Robert Morgan. The school district said they will likely reprimand four to five students. The punishment has not been decided.

Williams declined to comment to 7News.
