OAKLAND PARK, FLA. (WSVN) - A car came crashing through the storefront of an Oakland Park beauty store, Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, at around 12:30 p.m., the light colored sedan crashed through the store front of the Beauty Exchange Beauty Supply store, located at 4384 N.W. 31st Ave.

Surveillance cameras caught the moment the vehicle drove into the store.

The whole front door is now gone and cleanup was underway, Wednesday evening. “We were just really scared. That was it,” Joanne Bucatel, who was almost hit. “It looked like everything was about to fall towards where we were.”

Employees and customers were inside the store. They jumped out of the way upon impact. “Almost two feet away. The car came through that, almost 15 feet inside,” said Nasir Ahmed, who was also nearly hit. “It was so scary. Still, I feel my heartbeat is going.”

The driver told employees who tried to get her out that she thought she put the car in reverse. “It was just an explosion. Something like ‘Boom.’ A big explosion,” Ahmed said. “I said, ‘How did you do this?’ She said, ‘I was trying to reverse the car back there, but unfortunately,’ she said, ‘it just came forward.'”

The woman who was driving the car appeared to have her son in the vehicle. Neither were injured. “She was just crying, and she was overwhelmed,” Bucatel said. “You know, ‘It’s OK, it’s OK.’ After they got the car, just trying to calm her down.”

The owner of the store said this isn’t the first time something like this has happened to him. His store in Fort Lauderdale, was hit by a vehicle back in 2013, but he said that he’s just glad everyone is safe.

The car has since been towed, and there were no injuries reported.

The driver will be charged with reckless driving.
