DANIA BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - A man suspected of burglarizing a house while a 12-year-old was home alone was arrested, deputies said.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest Wednesday and identified the suspect as 17-year-old Simon Lee.
BSO officers thanked the media and community for their help in apprehending the alleged burglar.
The teen was caught on camera going through the family’s belongings while a 12-year-old boy was home alone. The boy hid inside of a bathroom, police said, while the suspect was in the house.
According to police, the boy called 911 after the burglar fled.
The items stolen are reportedly worth nearly $1,000.
