FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade is getting ready to hit the water, and as participants put the final touches on their work, one rockin’ float caught the eye of 7News.

Fred Flintstone is ready to rock at Winterfest. Fred is really Rob Kornahrens, the President of Advanced Roofing and a member of the Winterfest board.

On Saturday night, Kornahrens will be aboard a 55-foot boat, bringing the stone age back to life. “I get to be Fred,” he said. “We will be up in the car, in the front, waving at everybody, just having a good time.

This year’s theme for the boat parade is “Comics and Cartoons,” and for the past two weeks, Kornahrens’ crew has been working long and hard to transform the boat into a scene from the hit TV show.

“Over 10,000 lights throughout,” he said. “We have over 54-foot florescent lights that really help light up the characters. The rocks on the bottom, we made with foam roofing material. We got some big garbage bags, we put them in there. A friend of mine built the car, Premier Stoneworks. He does a lot of stonework, and he built the car for us.”

Along with lights, costumes, music, the Flintstones theme song will be blasting on the vessel — ten different versions of it.

“We got a version in Spanish. Opera version,” said Kornahrens. “The DJ went out and found 10 different versions of the Flintstone theme song.”

The crew plans to be loud, well lit and animated as they join dozens of other boats in the parade from Fort Lauderdale’s New River to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach.

The greatest show on H2O is celebrating its 45th Anniversary this year, and it’s expected to draw hundreds of thousands of spectators.

Fireworks will also be lighting up the sky. Advanced Roofing is a proud sponsor, so you’ll find the Flintstones boat right behind the fireworks barge floating a special message, targeting the younger audience.

“I put Be Strong Anti-bullying Organization signs on it,” said Kornahrens. “We’re proud to sponsor them, as well. It’s just going to be a great year, great weather. Everybody needs to come out.”

The Advanced Roofing boat is almost ready, but Kornahrens said they’ll be working on it until the very last minute on Saturday.
