FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - The man accused of snatching a woman’s purse faced a judge, Friday.

Frederic Mordon was arrested Thursday after he was identified as the man seen stealing a $300 black purse from a Mobil gas station, near Southwest 40th Street and Stirling Road, in Dania Beach.

Surveillance captured the woman chasing after the thief and leaping onto the hood of his car. The video then shows the car making a sharp turn, knocking the woman off the car head-first onto the pavement before running over her left ankle.

Police also said Mordon is the same person who allegedly stole a car with a 2-month-old baby inside from a shopping plaza in North Lauderdale. A 10-year-old girl was also in the vehicle, but she was able to get out before the man drove off.

The infant was found safe hours after the carjacking.

Mordon is now being held without bond at the Broward main jail.
