FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - Fort Lauderdale officials responded to a house fire that displaced six people, Monday night.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded to the scene near Northwest 18th Street.

According to a fire rescue spokesperson, heavy smoke and flames was coming from the house that was being rented. The woman renting the house said she was cooking, went to check on the kids and then realized there was a fire. She said she’s had trouble with the stove in the past.

Two adults, four children and a dog were inside but were able to get out safely. The American Red Cross was called to the scene to help those displaced.
