MIAMI (WSVN) - A group of students with the 5000 Role Models were treated for their hard work.

About a thousand students from the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project attended their annual Christmas Summit at Jungle Island, Friday.

The students were rewarded for writing an essay on what the project means to them, as well as what it means to give during this holiday season.

In return, they had a chance to play games, enjoy hands-on animal experience and have a pep-rally with Congresswoman Frederica Wilson.

“They are having a ball, they have pastries from Vicky’s Bakery, they have hot dogs, they have a show, they’re going to have a dance contest,” Wilson said.

Each student received a basketball from Santa Claus to take home. They also met with Miami Heat’s own Burnie and Miami Dolphin’s T.D.
