MIAMI (WSVN) - The installation of new divider poles on Interstate 95 will cause the a portion of the express lanes and the lane next to it to be shut down overnight.

Crews are replacing the poles that separate the express lane with more durable plastic ones.

The northbound express lane and lane adjacent to it will be closed from State Road 836 to the Golden Glades Interchange, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The space between the poles will also be reduced from 10 to five feet.

Officials said they hope the changes will better divide the lanes from the rest of I-95, preventing drivers from attempting the dangerous and illegal maneuver known as “lane diving.”

The project is expected to take 10 weeks to complete.
