MIAMI (WSVN) - Two Catholic schools in South Florida are merging for an expansive, brand-new project.
Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame High School in Little Haiti is preparing to close its doors after more than 50 years. It will be joining forces with Monsignor Edward Pace High School in Miami Gardens, where students will move at the beginning of the next school year.
A spokesperson for the Archdiocese of Miami cited low student enrollment as the main reason behind the closure. Mary Ross Agosta said, “The reason for this is, while it’s a difficult but a necessary decision, is primarily because of the declining enrollment at Archbishop Curly High School. Last school year we had 272 students. Today there’s only 229 students.”
School leaders said they expect the transition to be smooth, and the merger will give students an enhanced education with additional extracurricular activities.
