NORTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - An investigation is underway, after a man was fatally shot in the head at a Northwest Miami-Dade gas station, early Monday morning.

According to police, at least one shot was heard right after 3:30 a.m., at the Exxon gas station along Northwest 12th Avenue and 79th Street.

Officials said when they arrived on the scene, they found a man on the floor next to a Toyota. They also said the passenger side door of the vehicle was wide open.

It is still unclear if the victim was inside the car at the time of the shooting.

According to police, he was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital with a bullet wound in his head. He was pronounced dead at the hospital from his injuries.

Investigators have not yet released the victim’s identity. However, officials said the man is in his 50’s.

Police received a call from an employee at the gas station, who said, there was a dispute between the victim and at least two others before the shooting.

The two suspects fled the scene in a dark colored vehicle, according to police.

7News spoke with one man who was just leaving the gas station when he heard the shot. “Just left the gas station and I heard the shot,” he said. “I don’t feel safe. It’s not even safe to go to the gas station no more out here. It’s just too crazy,”

Before 11 a.m., a woman was seen entering the Toyota sedan and driving away from the scene. It remains unclear whether the vehicle or the woman are related to the shooting.

Miami-Dade Police taped off 79th Street between Northwest 12th Avenue and 11th Court as they investigated.

Police added that the surveillance video has been turned over to them by the gas station.
