SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. (WSVN) - A car has collided with the front of a storefront at the Sunset Strip Plaza, injuring at least one person, Friday afternoon.

According to Miami-Dade Police, the vehicle hit the outside of a building located along Southwest 72nd Street, off of 108th Avenue. Officials said the driver hit a pedestrian who was on the sidewalk.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and then drove up on the curb near Kayleen’s Learning Center and Child Care. The car crashed into a door that connected to a supermarket and the day care.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the pedestrian was transported to Kendall Regional Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening. The driver was unscathed.

Witnesses said that the motorist was shaken up after the crash.

7’s Skyforce HD hovered above the scene as a tow truck arrived to remove the vehicle. It has since been removed as of 5:30 p.m.

A structure representative is expected to arrive to make sure the building is safe for people inside. Crews have already begun cleanup.

Officials said children were inside the day care at the time of the crash, but were unharmed.

Police remain at the scene investigating this case.
