WSVN — If you haven’t tapped into the craft beer craze yet, now is your chance.
KC Sentz-Owner, Funky Buddha Brewery: “South Florida has exploded over the last few years.”
Head to Broward County where the Funky Buddha Brewery just opened in Oakland Park.
KC Sentz-Owner, Funky Buddha Brewery: “We’ll have 20 or so of our own beers, and the rest of the taps being local beers throughout the state.”
You can saddle up to their rustic bar for a beer tasting flight.
KC Sentz-Owner, Funky Buddha Brewery: “We’ll have up to five ounces of four different types of beer.”
Or take a tour of their huge facility to learn about the Buddha brewing way.
Juan Zilveti-Customer: “It’s nice to have good beer and fresh beer this close. This was probably brewed just a few days ago.”
Head brewer Ryan has come up with more than 100 different recipes and loves to brew outside the lines.
Ryan Sentz-Head Brewer: “We do a lot of beers that have a culinary influence to them. We do an apple pie beer. We do a maple bacon coffee porter. Our biggest seller is our no crusts, which is a peanut butter and jelly brown ale.”
Wine lovers can wine down the week at the newly-opened WD 555 in South Beach. Every Friday night get a taste of the south of France at the wine shop’s Pink Friday event, which is a celebration of Rosé.
Emmanuel Pelletier – General Manager, WD 555: “Every Friday we are going to taste between eight to 10 different Rosé. It’s typical wine. It’s fresh and fruity. Some of the Rosé have a little taste of peach.”
From 7 to 11 p.m. you can sample chilled glasses of Rosé for only $5 a glass.
Mia Dequine-Customer: “Try every single one, see which one is the best.”
You can sit in their gorgeous courtyard or at a wine barrel table inside as they pass around tasty, complimentary apps.
Emmanuel Pelletier – General Manager, WD 555: “Nice scallops with fresh celery. You’re going to have speck with blue cheese, tapenade with fresh anchovies.”
Mia Dequine-Customer: “I love the hors d’oeuvres, the pork belly with the little ginger very nice.”
We’ll toast to that.
WD 555 is also a wine shop, so you can pick up a nice bottle of vino there. The Funky Buddha Brewery has a daily happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. and brewery tours on the weekend.
