MIAMI (WSVN) — A man and a woman were taken to the hospital after, officials said, their boat crashed near North Bay Village, early Friday.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the vessel struck a channel marker pole near North Bayshore park while traveling at 20 miles per hour. Officials said they received the distress call at around 2:30 a.m.

The collision reportedly left both victims with facial injuries. The woman was airlifted as a trauma alert to Jackson Memorial Hospital in serious condition. The man was transported by ground to JMH and is expected to be OK.

Two good Samaritans stayed with the patients until rescue crews arrived.
