Love sushi? They have it. A ceviche fan? They’ve got that too. Wanna eat cooked food? Cook it yourself on the robata at your table. Curry your thing? Order it. Feeling some fried rice? Yup, it’s here. Oh and beef lovers they’ve got you covered too. That’s the new Tokyo Blue in downtown Miami. The owner, Shawn McNamara, tells me the restaurant started as a sushi concept but after complaints from friends who don’t eat sushi (crazy, right? not eating sushi!) he decided to go Asian fusion and added a little something for everybody.

That’s what I tried the other night. A little bit of everything. It started with an order of asian tacos ($10) 2 tuna, 1 lobster with a little jalapeno salsa and avocado miso in a crunchy mini tempura taco. Lobster ceviche came in an aji amarillo and leche cream sauce, with red onions, cilantro and some corn nuts for crunch. Grilled seabass skewers ($14) marinated in sweet sake and miso melted in your mouth like “buttah”. Tokyo Blue also offers robatayaki or Japanese BBQ. You choose from a long list of meats, vegetables, seafood and chicken and then cook the bite sized morsels on a hot stone right at your table. Last but not least for the carb lover in you (and who doesn’t love carbs!!!) there are 7 different fried rice dishes to choose from. I tried the chicken I’ll have to go back to taste the other 6. If sushi is your thing you’ll love the sushi bar. At lunchtime it floats by and around the bar on boats. See something you like, grab it. They add up your tab at the end based on the color of the sushi plates you picked. The floating sushi bar is a hit with the downtown lunch crowd. The customers grab, eat, and go. But they always come back for more and so will you.
