Dinner and a movie — it’s a classic American date. You grab something to eat and make it over to a theater to catch a flick. A movie palace in the 954 is offering up both and tying them together in a really cool way.

What do Westerns and food have in common?

They’re part of the Spaghetti Western series at Silverspot Cinema in Coconut Creek.

Randi Emerman: “Spaghetti Westerns were actually films made by Italian directors. It might not be about spaghetti per se, but they got that name because of the Italian directors that directed them.”

Spaghetti Westerns were all the rage in the 1960s. They helped turn a certain Hollywood actor into a legend.

Randi Emerman: “These movies made Clint Eastwood a star a megastar.”

Clint stars in the trio of shoot-em-ups that make up the series.

Randi Emerman: “We have three Spaghetti Westerns ’cause it the “Dollar” series so we’re starting with the very first one “A Fistful of Dollars” then in January we’ll have “A Few Dollars More” and we’ll close out the series in march with “The Good The Bad and The Ugly.”

You won’t be watching these westerns on an empty stomach.

Dinner comes first at Trilogy, the in-house restaurant.

Randi Emerman: “You start off with Caesar salad, spaghetti and meatballs, a little tiramisu, a glass of wine, you take your popcorn into the theater.”

As satisfied as you may be after plunging into pasta, it could be hard to watch a movie empty-handed.

No problem, you pick out some goodies and they’ll bring them right to your seat.

Randi Emerman: “It’s select items from our trilogy menu, so they pack them up, you go sit down, enjoy yourself. Get relaxed for your movies and we’ll bring it to you to your seat.”

Your belly isn’t the only part of your body being filled during the Spaghetti Western series.

You’ll learn a lot about the films, as well

Randi Emerman: “We’re going to put a little education into it and bring in an expert, a film expert who’s gonna give you a little warm-up on what Spaghetti Westerns are, why they were important to show business and to film making.”

Listen up, partner — don’t let this series pass you by.

Viviane, customer: “I think it’s a great idea. Come with your girlfriends, enjoy a nice plate of spaghetti, forget the dieting and enjoy a nice Western movie.”
