The aliens from “Independence Day: Resurgence” have invaded theaters, and they’re not leaving anytime soon. They join a rebel against the Confederacy and surfer-hunting sharks at multiplexes this weekend. Here’s a look at all five new movies in this week’s Showtime.

It’s been 20 years since the first “Independence Day,” and the aliens are back for revenge.

You’ll recognize a lot of the original cast in this one, like Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Vivica A. Fox. Joining them in the fight are newcomers like Liam Hemsworth, who we chatted with on the movie’s set in Albuquerque.

Chris Van Vliet: “Is there a certain setpiece that you saw and you were like, ‘Holy crap, this is cool?'”

Liam Hemsworth: “All of it, man. I come to work and we’re kind of messing around in spaceships all day long, and they look like real spaceships.”

Matthew McConaughey (as Newton Knight): “No man ought to tell another man what he has to live for or what he has to die for.”

Matthew McConaughey is back with a cause in “Free State of Jones.” In the Civil War epic, he’s branded a deserter — and finds himself hiding and fighting alongside a group of runaway slaves.

Matthew McConaughey: “This is a really particular and entertaining and important piece in American history that got lost.”

Elle Fanning (as Jesse): “You know what my mother used to call me? Dangerous.”

Elle Fanning is growing up dangerously fast — and starring in “The Neon Demon.”

And, in the killer world of L.A.’s fashion world, fashion kills!

Brian De Palma: “Being a director is being a watcher. You have a lot of egos in the room, and you have to sort of watch how they interact with each other.”

Actors, studio execs and uptight censors! “De Palma” is a documentary with legendary director Brian De Palma. He’s spilling all the secrets behind some of Hollywood’s biggest films.

Al Pacino (as Tony Montana): “Say hello to my little friend!”

Blake Lively (as Nancy Adams): “I think I’ll be all right.”

Umm, think again! In “The Shallows,” Blake Lively plays a hot surfer chick, and she finds herself caught between a rock and a shark place.

Blake Lively: “That’s sort of the goal, when you’re in the theater, to scare you out of your seat.”
