There is freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Now a restaurant wants to give you the ultimate freedom of choice. They’ve got something for everyone, as long as you aren’t indecisive.
Roll out and roll up. At Kappa Rolls + Bowls in North Miami Beach, you can have it your way.
Roberto Civita, Kappa Rolls + Bowls: “Kappa Rolls + Bowls is a sushi restaurant where we have a new concept of fast casual, where you have the freedom to choose what goes into your food, from your rolls to your bowls.”
Think of this place as a salad bar for your sushi or your rice bowl.
Roberto Civita: “Everyone eats a salad their own way. Why not let them do it with rolls and bowls?”
Alina Mergelova: “I think it’s a cool, original, unique concept.”
The rolls come with miso soup and your choice of rice or salad. And, with 11 types of fish and 10 different veggies, the combos are endless.
Roberto Civita: “The first option you gotta choose from is, ‘Do you want white rice or brown rice?’ You get your choice of two proteins. After that, you get the choice of three different veggies to go with your roll.”
To make sure every piece of sushi is exactly the same, Kappa’s got a special rice machine that spreads the grains evenly and another one that slices the sushi.
Roberto Civita: “The brown rice and white rice comes out ready to be rolled. Just put the seaweed on it, take it out and we are ready to go.”
For bowls, decide if you want salad, steamed rice or fried rice.
Roberto Civita: “Our fried rice is made with carrots, eggs and other veggies.”
Then, pick your protein: steak, octopus, chicken or shrimp.
Roberto Civita: “You get two proteins with every bowl. Obviously, the salad has vegetables, and if someone wants extra vegetables on the fried rice or on the steamed rice, there is no charge.”
Once you get your food, head to the topping station for everything from crispy jalapeño to truffle mayo.
Alina Mergelova: “Thought it was really interesting that the customer gets to choose their own options instead of settling for the original sushi roll and bowl.”
All the rolls and bowls cost $8.50. Just think, you can come in every day of the week and get something different each time.
