October is about Halloween and haunted houses. Here in SoFlo, we have the perfect place to get your fix … and it’s so much fun — it’s scary.

Scary Clown: “My pal and I are so glad you are here.”

Leave your fears at the door because the House of Horror is back.

Tony Alvelo: “House of Horror is a haunted carnival that takes place right here in Miami at the Miami International Mall, all of the month of October, all the way through to Halloween.”

This haunted carnival has been scaring South Floridans for more than a decade and now it’s bigger, “badder” and much much scarier.

Tony Alvelo: “This year, the haunted house has been split into two haunt experiences: the 1455 Asylum and the Gates of Phobia.”

Patients from a mental hospital return from the dead in the 1455 Asylum, and leave your fears behind when you go into the Gates of Phobia.

Tony Alvelo: “The Gates of Phobia is a haunt experience that really focuses on people’s fears. More of a psychological thriller and also, there is a 3D component to it.”

Visitor: “I think the best part about it is that people were actually coming at you. I didn’t really expect that. I kind of expected just to watch things.”

And if you go to the House of Horrors at the beginning of the week, the fear-filled fun goes dark.

Tony Alvelo: “The dark hour only happens on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays and that is the last hour of every night. The patrons can go through the haunt experiences and the lights are out.”

The Freak Emporium has oddities and photos that will send chills down your spine. And, the Hellzapoppin traveling show is meant to freak you out.

Tony Alvelo: “Hellzapoppin is a rock and roll circus freak show. With sword swallowers, fire breathers, contortionists, knife throwing — it’s just this rock and roll freak show that happens on the weekend.”

For $29, you can get scared over and over. The rides, the shows and the haunts are unlimited.

Tony Alvelo: “The cost to get in is $29 per person. It includes everything, but there are specials online for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday tickets that are only $15.”

This year’s the House of Horror is horrifically awesome, and don’t blame Deco when you start sleeping with the lights on.
