“Lethal Weapon” is a great way to fill time until the night’s main event — the season premiere of “Empire.”

Terrence Howard (as Lucious Lyon): “They’re coming for us. Wait until we show them how dark hell can get.”

Oh yeah! It’s gonna be a good one!

Season three of “Empire” — the hit drama about music, family, glamour and power — returning to FOX tonight.

The first episode answering season two’s cliff hanger — who goes over during this balcony fight: Rhonda or Anika?

Kaitlin Doubleday (as Rhonda Lyon): “You wanted that devil child to be the only heir to the throne don’t you?”

In the meantime, the stars of the show attended a special season three premiere in Chicago, Tuesday night.

Serayah McNeill: “In my opinion, I think it’s going to be the greatest season. I mean, it’s going to be real and it’s going to be gritty and it’s got really good, earthy messages.”

Different this season? The show is taking on the tone of a classic mob movie — “The Godfather.”

Trai Byers: “It’s going to be a lot of rocking and rolling in season three, they’re taking a ‘Godfather’ approach to this story in a way that I just feel like is so juicy.”

And that means … you never really know who’s days are numbered.

Ta’Rhonda Jones: “You can expect new additions to the family, new lovers, new dope music, of course, and somebody’s got to go. It wouldn’t be ‘Empire’ if nobody was to die.”

Stand-out cast member, Taraji P. Henson, explaining why she can’t get enough of her character cookie.

Taraji P Henson: “What I like best about playing Cookie is that there’s no buffer. And she’s unapologetic.”

Vivica A. Fox is back, too. Playing Cookie’s sister, Candace. And she can’t wait for fans to see what’s in store.

Vivica A. Fox: “It’s sexy. It’s hot. It’s fashion. There’s music, there’s performances. Hot guys, hot girls, and tons of fashion. Lots of bling.”

The action starts at 8 p.m. with “Lethal Weapon,” and “Empire” starts at 9 p.m., right here on 7!
